Position Title: Benefit Analyst
Reports To: Manager, HR Benefits
Summary of position:
The Benefits Analyst is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's benefits programs through regular reconciliation of benefits data across HR systems, payroll, and third-party vendors. In addition, this role is responsible for overseeing and processing requests for leaves of absence, which encompass disability-related absences, workers' compensation, FMLA, Military Leave, as well as State and Federal leaves.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience is required. Equivalent experience may be considered.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in employee benefit administration with a strong focus on benefits reconciliation, data analysis, and vendor management.
- 2-3 years of prior Leave of Absence / Benefit Administration experience required.
Licensure and Certification:
Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) or Professional in Human Resources (PHR) is preferred.
Essential Functions:
- Perform benefits reconciliation data between HR systems, payroll, and third-party vendors, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Generate reports and analyze benefits data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with benefits vendors to ensure accurate records and resolve any discrepancies in employee benefits.
- Maintain compliance with legal requirements and assist in audits related to benefits administration.
- Continuously improve reconciliation processes and serve as a point of contact for employee benefits inquiries and issues.
- Act as the primary point of contact for leaves of absence administration and daily benefit administration, interpreting both regulatory and internal guidelines.
- Manage and oversee Workers Compensation claims.
- Serve as a liaison between our company and third-party administrators.
- Provide education to employees, leaders, and HR personnel on leave processes, procedures, and best practices.
- Supports other benefit and Human Resources functions as assigned.
- Maintain monitoring and tracking of all leaves to facilitate coordination with managers to ensure adequate staffing during employee absences, all while maintaining confidentiality.
- Ensure the execution of administrative policies and amendments governing employee benefit plans that are in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Counsel employees and managers on policies, procedures and benefit offerings by providing accurate and legal information that acts in the best interest of the company.
- Perform any other job duties as requested.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools; experience with HRIS and payroll systems (e.g., UKG, ADP).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and identify discrepancies.
- Basic knowledge of benefits-related laws, regulations, principles, methods and techniques including FMLA, USERRA, ADAAA, ERISA
- Intermediate understanding of absence management / accommodations processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external vendors.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
