Overview:
Under general supervision the Archivist will perform a variety of tasks requiring meticulous detail and understanding of regulatory, sponsor and protocol requirements.
The Archivist is responsible for receipt of study records, specimen (slides, blocks, and wet tissues), as well as retention samples of test and control articles, as required. Receipt of non-study specific records (validation/qualification studies, maintenance and equipment records) that are required to be maintained in support of a GLP study. Ensures the appropriate inventory and submission forms are submitted with the materials to be archived. Assigns a storage location in the various archive areas. Maintains a database for reference purposes of materials archived including the location, study number, study director, etc., to facilitate retrieval. Maintains records and documentation of submission forms and inventories. Retrieves materials from the archives when proper authorization and documentation are submitted according to the SOPs. Escorts QA and external auditors and sponsors into the archives when necessary. General maintenance and ownership of the archive facility.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent and at least one year of work experience in a scientific or research setting; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities and have been attained.
Preference will be given to applicants who have a Bachelor’s Degree in Life Science or combination of degree, experience in a GLP-regulated environment and hands on experience with sample and/or document management process. Library or museum background in managing the collections with attention to storage and retrieval requirements could also be appropriate
A post-offer, pre-placement physical examination, ability to obtain required vaccinations, and successful completion of various background checks are required. Applicants must be willing to work in an ABSL-3 environment and with radiation. Ability to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force base (KAFB) is required.
Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in an office environment. Will operate standard office equipment and will frequently stand, walk, sit, perform desk-based computer tasks, use a telephone, perform repetitive motions and occasionally lift objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
