A/R Collections Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Receivable Clerk to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing incoming payments, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring timely collection of accounts. This role requires strong communication skills and a solid understanding of medical terminology and revenue cycle management, particularly in the healthcare sector.
Responsibilities

Process and post payments to customer accounts accurately and efficiently.
Manage medical collections, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company policies.
Conduct account reconciliation to maintain accurate financial records.
Utilize coding knowledge, including ICD-10, to ensure proper billing practices.
Negotiate payment arrangements with clients when necessary while maintaining professionalism.
Respond to inquiries regarding account status and payment issues with excellent phone etiquette.
Collaborate with the accounts payable team to resolve discrepancies and improve processes.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology and revenue cycle management best practices.

Requirements

Proven experience in accounts receivable or a similar role, preferably within the healthcare industry.
Familiarity with medical collections and revenue cycle management processes.
Strong understanding of medical terminology and coding practices, including ICD-10.
Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
Ability to effectively negotiate payment terms while maintaining positive client relationships.
Proficient in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with an emphasis on phone etiquette.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
