Yard and Warehouse Supervisor Location: Surface Scape Group Ltd, 29 Jubilee Road, Newtownards, BT23 4YH. Occasionally, the Yard and Warehouse Supervisor may be required to work at various other locations, including international assignments for short periods. Job Purpose The Yard and Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Yard and warehouse, ensuring that goods are received, stored and despatched efficiently while meeting safety standards. The role also involves managing staff and ensuring adherence to health, safety and security regulations. Main Accountabilities
Manage incoming and outgoing transport, ensuring the safe loading and unloading of goods and compliance with weight restrictions
Conduct final checks on transport vehicles before despatching goods, ensuring accuracy in batch records for artificial grass and other products
Ensure materials are handled and stored responsibly in the yard, warehouse and showroom areas to minimise damage and wear.
Ensure stock assembly materials (e.g. strapping tape, pallet wrap) are readily available and optimise warehouse space to meet time and quality targets.
Maintain a clean, safe and secure working environment, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations for warehousing, handling and despatch.
Stock Management
Ensure all necessary paperwork is prepared for the receipt of goods and inform the sales and accounts team of any discrepancies.
Regularly collect pick lists from the sales team and ensure orders are fulfilled in a timely manner, notifying the team of any stock discrepancies
Conduct routine and ad-hoc stock checks, reporting findings to the management team and coordinating with the sales team on any surplus or missing stock Implement processes to manage stock returns, ensuring the sales team updates databases and customers receive credit notes or refunds as appropriate
Ensure product samples are regularly available and restocked for the sales team
Effective use of the company stock management system to reflect stocks, batch codes, damaged/defective goods etc.
Customer Service and Stakeholder Engagement
Coordinate with customers, suppliers, and transport companies to resolve any service-related issues and ensure smooth deliveries
Work with private landscapers and fitters to ensure all relevant paperwork is up to date and stock in accurately accounted for
Monitor service quality, receive feedback and work with other departments to investigate accidents or damage and identity the root cause
Attend meetings and work with the broader company team to achieve productivity targets and business objectives
Staff Supervision
Identify personal and team training needs, promote up skilling opportunities and enhance product knowledge
Plan work schedules, assign tasks and appraise staff performance to ensure productivity targets are met
Lead team meetings, conduct performance reviews and handle disciplinary and grievance hearings as required
