Yard and Warehouse Operative
Hours of Work:8.00am to 4.30pm or 9.00am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday. Flexibility is required and working hours may include early starts, late finishes and occasional overtime (including weekends) based on business needs.
Reports to: Yard and Warehouse Supervisor
Job Purpose
The Yard and Warehouse Operative is responsible for receiving, storing, picking and despatching products, ensuring accuracy and the safe handling of materials. The role involves maintaining cleanliness, safety, and organisation in the yard, warehouse, and showroom areas, while contributing to the company’s operational goals.
Yard and Warehouse Area Duties

• Maintain a neat and tidy warehouse, yard and showroom area at all times
• Adhere to all health and safety rules, procedures, and instructions provided including safety protocols for operating equipment, handling chemicals, or working in hazardous environments.

Stock Management Duties

• Coordinate with the sales team and Management, ensuring accurate receipt, storage and despatch of goods.
• Ensure any stock discrepancies are communicated promptly.
• Collect pick lists from the sales team and fulfil orders efficiently before scheduled delivery times.
• Notify the sales team of any stock discrepancies.
• Assist with the stock takes and perform routine stock checks, reporting to the Yard and Warehouse Supervisor and/or Operation Manager on any discrepancies.
• Ensure returned stock is accounted for and in good condition, coordinating with the sales team to issue credit notes or refunds where applicable
• Maintain and restock product samples to the sales team

Customer Service, Teamwork and Stakeholder Engagement

• Work with customers, transport companies, and other stakeholders to maintain high service standards and resolve issues efficiently
• Liaise with drivers to coordinate deliveries, ensuring timely and accurate shipments
• Work closely with other departments and the wider company team to meet productivity targets and business goals
• Help investigate accidents or damages, identifying the root cause and reporting findings
• Maintain premises to a high standard of presentation.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £12.00-£12.02 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
