Trainee Transport Planner JP Logistics Solutions (JPLS) is an experienced shipper to and from the Caribbean with more than 75 years-experience. We provide the full range of services for import and export customers both commercial and private. Collection, delivery, timely customs clearance, document origination and processing, road and sea transport, warehousing and packing can all be undertaken providing the complete door to door solution. Our highly experienced team are based in strategically located sites in London, Miami, Jamaica and Wales, backed by an International network of agents. JPLS are seeking an ambitious and driven individual to fulfil the role of Trainee Transport Planner to join our Newport team. The role is key to the stage of development in our UK Logistics Team and will be trained to play a crucial role in managing our fleet container operations. You will be trained to manage the fleet operations, driver management as well as working as part of the wider freight forwarding team on import and export activities. You will need to have strong inter-personal skills, an eye for detail and a willingness to go ‘the extra mile’ when needed. Experience is not necessarily required as we will train the successful candidate to fulfil the role in its entirety. Duties to include
Plan vehicle routes daily, maximising revenue whilst still hitting all customer service targets.
Liaise and manage driver team to ensure full standards of compliance and service.
Liaise with the other JPLS sites to ensure the provision of containers for loading on time, every time.
Ensure daily running sheets and other requirements are completed in full, on time with the JPLS bespoke logistics system.
Where possible, suggest operational and system improvements that will enhance and improve the operations.
Act as a point of contact for customer enquiries and provide quotes and follow ups as required on both imports and exports.
Assist other team members when required to assist with completion of their duties.
Skills & Qualifications
Experience in transport planning or a related field would be desirable, but certainly not a pre-requisite.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and complete all duties accurately and within the required timescale.
A driven team player with a strong work ethic.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to communicate with all team members.
Strong understanding of IT platforms, particularly Microsoft Word and Outlook.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in an office environment.
Ability to build strong relationships with drivers, suppliers and customers.
A valid driving licence is desirable but not essential.

Starting salary of c £25,500 with agreed pathway to higher earnings as experience develops.
Role is office based, Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 5pm.
