Pharmacy Support Worker (Ref: 201223)

Band 2 - Salary Range £24,647 - £26,763 per annum (pro rata)
Distant Island Allowance of £2,380 per annum (pro rata)


An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our pharmacy team, as a pharmacy support worker on the bank. Pharmacy opening hours are Monday to Friday 9-5pm with the exception of a 4.30pm finish on a Wednesday.

The post holder will work as part of the expanding technical team within the pharmacy at Gilbert Bain Hospital, Lerwick. The Pharmacy Support Worker fulfils a vital role within the dispensary receiving and distributing medications, maintaining adequate stock levels of drugs and sundries, and dispensing of medicines and vaccines. There will also be opportunity to provide a medicines top up service to wards and departments within the hospital. Other general duties include date checking, cleaning and administrative work including filing, as required. The post holder will work alongside Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists to ensure that medicines are provided safely and efficiently within the hospital and to some outlying areas.

This post requires a minimum of 3 standard grades or equivalent in English, Mathematics and at least one other subject. Previous experience is not necessary as training will be provided. We would welcome pharmacy students or school students who would be available during term holidays.
