We currently have an opportunity in our Portering Services Department for an enthusiastic, motivated individual to work in our Materials Management Department within the Wrexham Maelor Hospital.
The post holder will respond to requests for the movement of goods in an appropriate and timely manner to provide a comprehensive and efficient service. This will involve the lifting, transferring, pushing and pulling of substantial weight with the assistance of mechanical aids where a risk assessment has identified the need to use them, these may include sack and pallet trucks, driven and hand held tugs.

1 Part time post - 24hrs – working 5 days per week as follows

Portering Services provides essential support to all areas of the hospital. The porter will be expected to react to the various challenges within the working environment, and the workload may be increased due to external influences including the environment, weather. The porter will work as part of a team contributing to the smooth running of the service, providing an efficient and effective response to requests for patient movement, assistance in emergency situations, collection and delivery of samples and medicines etc, whilst ensuring that other tasks such as delivery of meal trolleys, linen, goods and mail etc are carried out in a timely manner. Whilst many of the tasks are generally routine the daily functioning of the service may be unpredictable therefore a flexible approach is essential and the post holder will be expected to use own initiative.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
