Billing Specialist
Specific Purpose Role: Full Time (37.5 hours per week)
Salary Starting from £29,000 PA + Bonus + Benefits

Specific Purpose Contracts only:
Should a permanent Billing Specialist vacancy arise during the course of the Specific Purpose Contract, the successful candidate will be offered the position on a permanent basis subject to pre-specified conditions.

The role:
To provide a high level of customer service to firmus energy contract customers through the provision of excellent aftersales care. To provide administrative and analytical support within the Billing Department as required and to lead in the production of accurate and timely industrial and commercial contract bills for gas customers.
The Individual:
The successful candidate will have previous experience in a Billing related role and be familiar with the use of customer CRM databases. They will also possess excellent analytical, communication and IT skills.
About The Role
Key Accountabilities:
  • Ensure contract customers are billed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Conduct regular bill audits to ensure accuracy and quality of information sent to customers
  • Maintenance of billing audits and supply margins
  • Assist Credit Control Department with payment issues and the resolution of disputes
  • Update and maintain contract information including pricing data and pass through charges
  • Liaise with Commercial Development Team to ensure contract renewals are processed in a timely manner
  • Become conversant with market documentation and licence conditions
  • First point of contact for Contract Account Managers to discuss customer billing requirements
  • Process siteworks for commercial customers and generate sundry invoices
  • Respond to the needs of contract customers, ensuring a high standard of service is delivered
  • Provide consumption reports to internal and external customers upon request
  • Process VAT and Climate Change Levy rebates when required, ensuring accurate financial postings
  • Assist with annual system updates ensuring customers are on the correct tariffs and that changes are fully communicated
  • Assist with tariff reviews, documenting system requirements, test scripts and executing system testing
  • Undertake any additional duties as required by the Billing Manager

Required Criteria
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above (or equivalent) including English & Maths
  • Previous experience in a billing role or analytical role
  • Previous experience resolving customer/client queries
  • Proficient in the use of MS Excel
  • Self-motivated, with an ability to work independently
  • Ability to process large volumes of information quickly and accurately
  • Ability to deal with a heavy workload in a demanding environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to develop productive cross-departmental relationships
  • Excellent problem solving skills

Desired Criteria

  • 3rd level qualification in a scientific discipline
  • Knowledge of gas contract billing arrangements and industry processes
  • 2 years previous relevant experience in a regulated environment
