Position : Operations Manager Industry : Building Materials Supply (Sanitaryware and Tiles) Location : Sharjah Reports To : Managing Director Department : Operations Job Overview: The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the supply chain, inventory management, procurement, and distribution of sanitaryware and tiles. Leveraging a background in finance, this role requires the ability to manage both operational functions and financial performance, ensuring cost optimization and efficiency. The Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in streamlining processes, controlling budgets, and driving profitability while maintaining high standards of quality and service. Key Responsibilities: 1. Operational Oversight: - Manage day-to-day operations related to procurement, inventory, warehousing, and distribution of sanitaryware and tiles. - Ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials, working closely with suppliers to maintain competitive pricing and quality. - Coordinate with logistics teams to streamline transportation and delivery processes, ensuring prompt and accurate deliveries. - Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels to meet customer demand without overstocking or understocking. - Develop and implement operational processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain high product quality. 2. Financial Management: - Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for operations to ensure cost control and financial efficiency. - Analyze cost structures and identify areas for cost-saving opportunities in procurement, warehousing, and logistics. - Monitor key financial metrics such as profit margins, operational costs, and inventory turnover to ensure business profitability. - Work closely with the finance department to ensure accurate financial reporting, cash flow management, and adherence to budgetary goals. 3. Vendor and Supplier Relations: - Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers of sanitaryware and tiles, negotiating favorable terms and pricing. - Assess and evaluate supplier performance, ensuring product quality, delivery timelines, and cost-effectiveness. 4. Process Improvement & Strategy: - Lead initiatives to optimize supply chain management, warehousing, and logistics processes. - Identify and implement technology solutions or software systems to streamline operations and improve tracking and reporting. - Develop strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and improve service delivery standards. 5. Team Leadership: - Manage and lead operational staff, ensuring they are well-trained, motivated, and aligned with company goals. - Foster a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork within the operations team. - Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff, ensuring their development and growth within the company. 6. Compliance & Risk Management: - Ensure all operational activities comply with industry regulations, health and safety standards, and environmental laws. - Manage risks associated with supply chain disruptions, financial challenges, and operational bottlenecks. Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field. - 8+ years of experience in operations management, preferably in the building materials sector (sanitaryware and tiles). - Strong financial acumen with a background in finance management or experience in financial oversight. - Proven ability to manage procurement, supply chain, inventory control, and logistics. - Experience in negotiating with suppliers and managing vendor relationships. - Proficiency in ERP systems, supply chain management software, and financial reporting tools. - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. - Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational abilities. Preferred Skills: - Experience in cost reduction initiatives and financial planning. - Knowledge of the sanitaryware and tile industry, including market trends, products, and suppliers. - Strong understanding of logistics management and warehousing practices.
