Purpose

Develop a competitive pipeline of varieties of a crop in line with Enza Zaden's long-term vision, that meet internal agreed production and sales requirements and external market needs and bring added value.

Key accountabilities

1.Responsible for pre-breeding projects and ensuring for using outcomes of those projects in product developments

2.Building up capability of breeding team for Data Driven Product Development applications including germplasm management, trial design, line fixation, data-based decision making.

3.A key member of Crop Advancement Team (CAP) . Representing breeding department by being active participant in CAP teams and ensuring close cooperation with M&S, Seed Operation and Portfolio in variety advancement processes. Maintain intensive communication with PD teams.

4.Steering and supporting breeding team to ensure their activities to be aligned with the market demand and EZ crop specific OGSM.

5.Managing the department effectively; supporting breeding team to apply Enza processes and protocols correctly and timely manner.

6.Supporting breeding team for implementing new ideas, developments, and techniques.

Main internal contacts

Sales Representatives, Portfolio, Product Specialists - Proactively cooperate during joint market visits to obtain information on market trends and direction for product models and incorporate them in EZ strategies
Senior Scientist, Biotech Breeders - Stay up to date with the latest technologies
Representatives of Seed Operation and Seed Production – Handover the Parent lines of hybrids that are candidates for commercialization by following EZ standard procedures to Seed Production department.
CAP teams - Member of a CAP teams and provide input to the teams
Global breeding teams of specific crop - Exchange knowledge and material

Minimum working and thinking level.

Higher professional education (HBO, Bachelor)

Minimum years of relevant work experience

7 years

Required certifications, knowledge and skills.

Bachelor of Science
Thorough knowledge of plant breeding, modern methods of breeding and phytopathology
Well acquainted with various cultivation techniques
Sufficient market knowledge
Proficient in the English and local language, both written and verbal

Working conditions

Occasionally working under pressure
Working in conditioned climate/high temperatures
Working outside in different weather conditions
Frequent domestic and international business traveling
