Responsible and accountable for the effective leadership of the production team
Responsible for all managerial functions including maintaining discipline and enabling the development of all production employees.
Drive daily goal alignment meetings and engagements with Operators
Manage the entire production process – Cleaning containers, Manufacturing of Batches, Packing, Repacks of Products, strapping and loading
Assist in adhoc functions of the logistics department on weekends and after working hours
Manage and direct activities with a focus on creating a safe working environment through a zero-tolerance approach to unsafe practices and adherence to manufacturing best practices
Ensure appropriate documentation is available for batch start up e.g. work plans, log process and SOP’s to execute the plan on time and in full
Keep production management, other Team leaders and inter departmental personnel informed of the status of the plant and any significant process or problems to avoid disruption and ensure smooth operation of the plant
Responsible for implementing world class manufacturing practices in keeping with creating a continuous improvement culture
Update and draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
Efficient control over utility and raw material usage to prevent wastage
Sign off work plans, logs, miscellaneous and records accurately
Assume OHS Act responsibility for the factory – Legal Appointment
Lead incident investigation
Administration and Execution of Permit to work to ensure that hazards and precautions are defined
Ensure precise shift handover at the end of the shift
Ensure that all SHEQ standards are maintained
Qualifications & Experience
Matric
National Diploma in Operations Management or Chemical Engineering
Minimum 5 years’ experience in chemical production environment
Knowledge of safety, quality and environmental best practices and management systems
