Requirements
- B.Eng/BSc Degree or B Tech in Civil Engineering
- Eligibility/Registration from an accredited professional body
- Minimum five (5) years’ appropriate experience consisting
of project management, construction contract management,
road and stormwater design, land use management and
development facilitation, and the management of roads and
stormwater in a municipal urban environment.
- Excellent analytical abilities and report writing skills
- A Code B driver’s licence
- Willingness to work after hours, including weekends
when required 24/7 contact via cell phone
- Must be prepared to work in any of the eight (8) Roads
and Stormwater geographical Districts.
Key Performance Areas
- Providing the technical framework to Urban Mobility
(UM) technical and professional staff, as well as engineering
consultants and contractors, engaged in the planning, design
and construction of roads, stormwater, lane markings, signage,
street furniture, parking areas, guardrails, handrails, fences
and all services ancillary to roads and stormwater.
- Managing and training a team of professionals and
technical staff within a district with respect to their technical
and functional responsibilities.
- Reviewing and approving Engineering Design Drawings
to ensure the implementation of sustainable and economical
public infrastructure, in accordance with the City’s standards.
- Reviewing and approving building plan submissions, land
use applications and applications with respect to the sale or
disposal of City land.
- Reviewing/calculating development charges payable
by developers and entering into Engineering Services
Agreements to provide new assets for the City
- Representing UM at Project Management Team meetings,
Site Meetings, or Technical Meetings with respect to the design
and specification of all roads and stormwater-related infrastructure
as well as the management of the road reserve.
