Job Advert Summary

The above-mentioned position is currently available in the Actuarial Business Solutions (ABS) team to fill the product actuarial position. The incumbent will be responsible to for the delivery of innovative, value-for-money products to the individual life risk market through managing and leading the design, development and pricing of new products. Ensuring ongoing competitiveness and attractiveness of PPS individual life product range from both a product and pricing perspective. The ABS team is also involved in the ongoing management of the existing business and support to the distribution teams. The role will report to the Executive PPS Life Solutions. The role will involve providing leadership to junior team members.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

• Matric.
• Qualified Actuary.
• Fellow of the Actuarial Society of South Africa (ASSA) or Institute or Faculty of Actuaries (UK).
• Must have at least 7 to 15 years of experience (product development and reinsurance experience in products similar PPS’ product range will be important).
• Experience with Agile development methodology is preferred.
• Fluent in English both written and verbal.
• Must have excellent communication skills.
• Good computer knowledge - MS Outlook, Excel and Word are necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Contributing to the delivery of innovative, value-for-money products to the market through the development, design, pricing, governance approval, IT implementation (Agile) and launching of new products.
• Ensuring ongoing competitiveness and attractiveness of the fully underwritten individual life risk product range both from a product and pricing perspective.
• Delivering efficient and consistent service and support to all internal and external clients, hence ensuring a quality interaction and relationship with all stakeholders.
• Analyse business processes to improve efficiency and the overall customer/intermediary experience.
• Developing and managing analytics to effectively and efficiently deliver insights to clients.
• Managing and ensuring the implementation of the PPS eligibility criteria.
• Collaboration with all the other relevant stakeholders (internal and external) such as claims, underwriting, research & development, reinsurance partners, distribution teams etc.
• Collaboration with other companies in the PPS group to identify cross-selling opportunities and complementary products.
• Understanding and maintaining actuarial models/processes both in terms of the regulatory and commercial environment.
• Contributing towards projects, initiatives, ad-hoc queries and team initiatives.
• Drive ongoing collaboration between the product development and technical marketing teams.
