Job Advert Summary
A vacancy exists in the Facilities team for a manager Services and Standard – Safety and Security.
To implement and manage HSE according to legislation and ensuring statutory compliance while building a positive and proactive safety culture within the organization.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications:
A completed Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or Health, Safety & Environment Management or other related qualification.
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years' experience in a SHE Manager or OHS Manager.
10 Years’ experience in building/facilities management.
Knowledge:
OSH ACT in-depth knowledge.
Knowledge and practical application of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and the Occupational Injuries and Disease Act.
Strong Knowledge of Physical Security.
General knowledge of building regulations and fire codes
Interpersonal and Intrapersonal Skills:
Must have strong leadership qualities.
Must have excellent Management/Team leader skills.
Must be goal driven with good decision making and problem solution capabilities.
Good planning and execution capability.
Must be empathetic but strong telephone etiquette.
Must be able to work outside of normal working hours and on weekend as and when Required.
Must have excellent time management skills.
Computer Literacy:
Knowledge of the latest MS Office package, particularly Excel, Word and Power Point
Own transport essential.
Duties and Responsibilities
Health and Safety
Develop, implement and improve the PPS health and safety plan, programmes and procedures.
Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures
Site compliance to OHS Act and other relevant regulations and legislation including Legal
Appointments, SHE Committee, Permits, etc
Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with regulations
Manage incident reporting and investigations
Provide training and guidance on health and safety matters.
Workplace :
Carry out regular inspections of workplaces and equipment to identify hazards and risks that impact workplace safety and food safety and take appropriate action to ensure compliance
Respond to and investigate concerns & complaints from employees and take appropriate
action
Investigate accidents and incidents that occur in the workplace, establish root causes and
recommend remedial action
Conduct and support the training of new employees and vendors on health & safety related matters
Develop and refine emergency procedures and ensure emergency preparedness of the
company sites
Managing any occupational health risks and reports as required
Identifying trends and risks relating to health
Do all Environmental and Facilities Audits (lighting, noise, air, ablutions, etc) Security
Conducting fire drills
Physical Security Management
Create a robust security framework that addresses various aspects, including, physical security, risk management and incident response.
Manage access control, CCTV, and alarm systems.
Conduct security risk assessments and audits.
Ensure compliance with security regulations and standards.
Monitoring and managing the external security contractors.
Develop and manage team.
To do inspections of all facilities and equipment – document processes to determine need and extent of service for both Head Office and any other properties leased or rented by HO and provincial offices.
Maintenance:
Oversee maintenance/compliance of buildings, grounds, and equipment
Manage facilities projects, including renovations and upgrades
Ensure compliance with building codes and regulations
Be proactive in addressing all queries, complaints and communications regarding assets.
Ensure PPS complies with Occupational and Safety Act and any other building related legislation.
Facilitate office moves at HO buildings. (Plans and physical moves)
Be on standby for out of working hours requirements.
Administration:
Provides and implements administrative quality control registers and structures.
Implement and maintain Service Level Agreements and manage all services in related area.
