Supreme Processing has an opportunity available for a Health Safety and Environmental Manager in our Health and Safety department. The successful candidate would be required to manage all health and safety as well as environmental risks, incidents, contractor activities by means of appropriately implementing, administer and maintaining Health Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and management system in line with legal/regulatory and site specific requirements.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Safety Management or equivalent.
5-7 years of HSE experience, including 3 years in a management role.
Previous experience in a poultry environment/operation will be beneficial
Experience in working with: OHS Act 85 of 1993, COID Act, National Environmental Management Act.
Minimum Certifications: SAMTRAC, NOSA, HIRA, ISO.
Strong leadership, excellent communication, and training skills.
Ability to analyze data, engage stakeholders, and manage compliance.
Expertise in legal liability and auditing processes.
Duties and Responsibilities
Not limited to:
Proactively ensure that the site is legally compliant by managing the HSE resources and auditing the HSE requirements.
Reporting of Sec. 24 and Sec. 25 incidents/accidents/diseases to the Department of Labour and Employments as well to the Workmen’s Compensation (WCA).
Facilitate the IOD process and assist with the rehabilitation of workers after accidents or injuries.
Facilitate the investigation on any incident or accident; verify the implementation corrective measures.
Maintain statistics and report to management monthly.
Conducting meetings and presenting Training on procedures and Induction
Facilitate, conduct and review risk assessments.
Ensures that preventative H&S initiatives, including toolbox talks, DSTI’s and campaigns are understood and implemented on site.
Manage all legal required appointments are in place and appointees trained and competent.
Managing and monitoring contractor’s files and activities to ensure they are risk based and compliant.
Conduct internal compliance and Health & Safety Audits.
Schedule and maintain all training that expire or any training identified and required.
Ensure that annual, quarterly, monthly checklist and inspections are completed and signed off by relevant party that carried out the inspections.
Inform management of any Health, Safety or Environment issues that may cause damage, injury, safety or health related problems.
