Role Purpose/Business Unit:
The purpose is to drive the technology strategy, implementation and execution of Safety, Health Wellness and Environmental (SHW&E) objectives within the Vodacom group of Companies including subsidiaries.
To develop and facilitate SHW&E technical plans across the Vodacom Technology Group & relevant subsidiaries.
Plan, and manage the annual H&S plans within the technology area including the relative budget allocation, resource management, vendors SHW&E plan reviews, and audit/inspection programs.
To ensure that the Vodacom Group of Companies are compliant with Vodafone & Vodacom Group Policies, standards as well as their respective legislative and system requirements.
To provide SHW&E strategic and operational technical guidance and direction setting around critical and future SHW&E risk and plans
To report, identify trends and forecast areas of SHW&E risk controls, within business to own and manage at relevant levels within the organization
Your responsibilities will include:
Responsible and accountable for Safety, Health, wellness technology strategy implementation and facilitation across Vodacom group of Companies (including partner Markets & subsidiaries).
Develop HSE&W annual functional Plans based upon minimum compliance and maturity aimed at improving HSE&W culture.
Responsible for facilitation to all stakeholders regarding design, construction, build, rollout, progress and performance on HSE&W initiatives and projects.
Conduct required functional deep dives, reviews, inspections, and audits to improve SHW&E performance on Markets against Vodacom Group Standards
Developing and managing constructive and interactive collaborative relationships with all relevant Stakeholders and Suppliers
To research and introduce new Safety, Health, Wellness and Environmental innovations solutions based on dynamic risk across Vodacom Group
Compile HSE&W success indicators, real time dashboards, reports and advise on trends to Business Leaders and Group Exco
Manage and provide input into budgetary requirements
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:
Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent – essential
3-year relevant Degree/National Diploma in SHE/Safety Management– essential
Engineering degree or equivalent training and qualifications within a Telco environment. - preferable
8 years of related and relevant technical experience in a multi-national environment & high-risk organisations- essential
Post Graduate certificates in H&S, e.g. Nebosh & OSHA, SAMTRAC certificates -essential
Excellent experience in Technology risk areas functions and maintenance works.
Experience and excellent stakeholder management in Africa - essential
Excellent knowledge in safety and occupational health requirements, policies and procedures.
Budgeting and Financial Management skills.
Project planning and Supplier Management skills.
Special requirements
3-5-year experience in developing SH&E programs and systems across multiple-Countries- (Africa -essential)
Experience in interacting relevant technology stakeholders across in Africa. - essential
Ensuring Environmental Compliance and system conformance (ISO14001)- preference
Willingness to travel to all Operating Companies and their subsidiaries in Africa and Vodafone as required.
A valid driver’s licence and be willing to travel as and when required – essential.
Job Knowledge:
Technical Operational Knowledge of operations within the sector (e.g. Passive & Active infrastructure build and maintenance, working @ heights, Electrical, close proximity to power, fibre- FTTX (ISP, OSP, Data Centers, Working @ Height and road risk.)
Knowledge on emerging technical growth areas (Fibre Co, Tower Co, Data co )
