Kendrick Recruitment is on the lookout for an exceptional Principal Field Guide Trainer to lead and inspire at a prestigious Field Guide College in the heart of the Waterberg. If you have a passion for wildlife, conservation, and training the next generation of field guides, this is your dream role!
Your Mission:
As the Principal Trainer, you'll take the reins of developing, leading, and delivering top-tier training programs for aspiring field guides. You’ll design immersive, FGASA-compliant curriculums, mentor future guides, and ensure that your team and students are equipped with the skills needed to excel in nature guiding, rifle handling, and wildlife conservation.
Key Responsibilities: Lead Training Excellence: Direct the training team to deliver engaging, hands-on courses that prep students for their guiding careers
Curriculum Development: Create and enhance cutting-edge modules that align with FGASA standards and industry trends
Mentorship & Instruction: Deliver both classroom and field-based training while mentoring students and junior trainers ️
Quality Assurance: Ensure training quality through regular assessments and ensure alignment with the college’s vision and FGASA standards ✔️
Student Support: Be the guiding light for students, providing feedback, mentorship, and adjustments to accommodate their needs
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with FGASA, game reserves, and conservation partners to create student opportunities
Safety First: Uphold the highest safety standards during all field exercises and ensure the well-being of students and staff
Who You Are:
A wildlife enthusiast with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in field guiding, including 2 years in a senior training role
Passionate about conservation, with a deep understanding of South African wildlife and eco-tourism
A natural leader and mentor with excellent communication and team management skills ️
Equipped with a FGASA Professional Trails Guide qualification and ideally an ETDP Assessor qualification
First Aid certified and proficient in advanced rifle handling and bushcraft
