Group Executives Logistics

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Pepkor is seeking an experienced Group Logistics Executive to lead and optimise the group’s centralised logistics operations, aligning closely with broader supply chain goals and corporate strategy. This leadership role will initially focus on Pepkor Logistics, an existing central service function which serves the transport needs of the Clothing and General Merchandise retail sectors, with the potential to expand into additional centralised logistics services over time.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with executive leadership to shape and execute the strategic direction for Pepkor’s logistics operations. Drive the vision and performance of centralised logistics functions, aligning with group-wide objectives and growth strategies.
People Leadership: Cultivate a high-performance culture, setting clear targets, KPIs, and performance metrics to align teams with the unit’s strategic goals.
Operational Excellence: Oversee national logistics infrastructure, ensuring efficiency and driving continuous improvement. Manage risks related to people, assets, and infrastructure.
Project Leadership: Lead critical operational projects, ensuring delivery within scope, budget, and strategic goals.
Financial Accountability: Take full P&L responsibility for logistics business units, overseeing budgeting, financial forecasting, and performance management.
Commercial Leadership: Ensure robust commercial assessment of projects and adherence to governance best practices in all decisions.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with internal clients, ensuring that logistics services support their strategic needs and meet performance targets.
Collaborative Leadership: Partner with retail supply chain leaders and centralised teams (such as the Value Chain Solutions centre of excellence) to drive collaborative group-wide initiatives.
Service Provider Management: Oversee relationships with internal and external service providers, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

REQUIREMENTS:

Executive Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a senior role within logistics, with a proven track record of delivering results.
Business Acumen: Strong analytical and commercial skills, with the ability to drive results and optimise operational performance.
Leadership: Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, transport, and systems.
High-Performance Culture: Proven ability to shape and sustain a high-performance environment across large, diverse teams.
Logistics Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of logistics and their integration with broader supply chain activities.
Project & Initiative Leadership: Experience in leading large-scale, complex business initiatives.
Relationship Management: Proven ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders.
Qualifications: A relevant degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
