Overview
This position's purpose is to drive the strategy of operational excellence and continual process improvement by effectively managing and executing the technical blasting service solutions delivery process to customers in a way that meets (or exceeds) their tangible and intangible needs and enhances the relationships with them to ensure that BME will be their first-choice service provider. Design Technical, digital and innovative global best practices.
Qualifications
Diploma / Degree (Mining, Mechanical, Chemical, Explosives Engineering or related qualification)
MBA/ related Business Management qualification
Advantageous Requirements Qualification / Professional Membership
Advanced Blasting course and other Technical qualifications
Work Experience
Technical skill IRO Mining explosives and services
Commercial / Industrial Explosives support and systems
Experience
8 years experience in Mining or resource industry
5 years experience in an Explosive environment
5 years’ senior management experience in Mining/ Blasting Operations Environment
8+ years experience in Mining industry with either Openpit, UG or both – should have direct experience in Mining and/or Blasting.
A track record in managing a technical services department in a Mining Business Environment.
Knowledge of cross value-chain application of Mining, Blasting, Commercial explosives products and processes.
Strong ability to influence and communicate with technical and non-technical employees and customers.
Excellent verbal, written communication, organizational and presentation skills.
Skilled in account management and complex solution selling.
Duties
Increased revenue through expanded and retention of client/sales base
To compile and execute the Technical business strategy thus ensuring business growth and creating new opportunities for customers and BME,
To perform and report on annual technical planning thus ensuring efficient and effective management of technical resources, employees and assets in such a manner as to accomplish the strategic objectives of the organisation and department.
To effectively manage the technical service delivery value chain through a whole series of activities to create and build value at every step in accordance with the organisational vision.
To analyse customer requirements using applicable technology and knowledge, recommend solutions and resolve related problems accordingly and submitting relevant high quality professional reports.
To assist in compiling of tender documents for technical offerings/services for prospective and existing clients
Effective relationships in the company and with relevant external stakeholders to deliver on the mandate of the role.
Achieved region/area/country net production/profit targets
To ensure efficient and effective management of technical resources in such a manner as to accomplish the strategic objectives of the organisation,
To define, development and implement systems, policies, procedures and processes to ensure process excellence and continual process improvement,
To ensures that all the requirements of the Mine Health and Safety Act, OHS Act, and statutory requirements within the department/remit thus ensuring effective management of SHERQ and adherence to stipulated disciplines for continuous improvement of occupational Safety, Health, Environment, Risk and Quality that impact on any organisation.
Optimally acquired/deployed/enabled resources for delivery on e.g. targets, cost, budgets, ROA
To effectively manage respective stock and equipment to obtain and preserve a suitable assortment of goods/equipment while also keeping track of all orders, shipping and handling, and other related costs.
To effectively manage the maintenance of equipment, vehicles and assets thus ensuring adherence to processes and procedures.
To manage all aspects of human capital through the HR value chain and in accordance to legislation.
To identify, implement and manage employee development and skills transfer through various on boarding and training initiatives
Strategic development of the Technical Department and related service offering.
