Oriental Sous Chef
Job Summary: The Oriental Sous Chef is responsible for assisting the Executive Chef in managing the kitchen operations with a focus on Oriental cuisine. This role requires advanced culinary skills, creativity, and a deep understanding of traditional and contemporary cooking techniques from various Asian cuisines. The ideal candidate will help lead the culinary team to deliver high-quality dishes while maintaining food safety and sanitation standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Culinary Preparation:
Assist in the development and preparation of a variety of Oriental dishes, ensuring authentic flavors and presentations.
Oversee the daily operations of the Oriental kitchen section, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
Ensure all dishes meet the restaurant’s quality standards and specifications.
Menu Development:
Collaborate with the Executive Chef to create and update menus that highlight Oriental cuisine and seasonal ingredients.
Experiment with new recipes and techniques to enhance the dining experience.
Staff Management:
Supervise and train kitchen staff in Oriental cooking techniques, ensuring consistency and quality.
Delegate tasks effectively and monitor staff performance, providing guidance and support as needed.
Quality Control:
Monitor food quality, portion sizes, and presentation, making adjustments as necessary.
Conduct regular taste tests and gather feedback to improve dishes.
Inventory and Ordering:
Manage inventory levels for ingredients specific to Oriental cuisine, ensuring timely ordering and proper storage.
Work with suppliers to source authentic ingredients and maintain quality.
Food Safety and Hygiene:
Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations in the kitchen.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and work areas.
Qualifications:
Education:
Culinary degree or equivalent experience with a focus on Oriental cuisine preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a culinary role, with at least 1-2 years as a Sous Chef or similar position specializing in Oriental cuisine.
Experience in high-volume kitchens or fine dining establishments is advantageous.
