JOB DESCRIPTION
ROLE PURPOS:
A Junior Geologist Engineer is an entry-level position within the field of geotechnical engineering, focusing on the study of soil, rock, and underground conditions to provide insights for construction, infrastructure projects, and environmental assessments.
And Specialized role within the field of geology and drilling that involves collecting and analyzing of geological data directly in the field.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
A Junior Geologist Engineer is an entry-level position within the field of geotechnical engineering, focusing on the study of soil, rock, and underground conditions to provide insights for construction, infrastructure projects, and environmental assessments.
And Specialized role within the field of geology and drilling that involves collecting and analyzing of geological data directly in the field.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Field Data Collection: Conduct geological surveys in various locations to collect data using borehole drilling and cavity probing.
- Instrumentation: Set up and calibrate drilling instruments and equipment to ensure accurate data collection. Troubleshoot technical issues that may arise during fieldwork.
- Survey Planning: Collaborate with geologists, and project managers to plan field surveys. Determine appropriate survey methods and parameters based on project objectives and site conditions.
- Data Acquisition: Operate geological instruments and equipment to collect data related to subsurface structures, geological formations, natural resources, and environmental characteristics.
- Field Logistics: Organize logistics for field surveys, including equipment transportation, site access, safety protocols, and accommodation arrangements.
- Data Quality Control: Monitor data collection processes to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and quality. Address any issues that arise during data acquisition.
- Field Interpretation: Conduct initial data analysis in the field to identify anomalies, trends, or potential areas of interest. Adjust survey parameters if needed to optimize data collection.
- Health and Safety: Prioritize safety protocols during fieldwork to protect yourself, team members, and the environment. Always adhere to safety regulations and guidelines.
- Navigation and Mapping: Use GPS and other navigation tools to accurately locate survey points and create maps of survey areas.
- Sample Collection: Collect soil, rock, or other samples from the field for laboratory analysis. Ensure proper labelling and documentation of collected samples.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of field activities, boreholes logging, survey parameters, equipment settings, and collected data. Prepare field reports that summarize observations and initial findings.
- Data Integration: Collaborate with data analysts and geologist to integrate field-collected data with other datasets, such as geological maps or remote sensing imagery.
- Reporting: Prepare comprehensive reports that present field observations, data analysis, and interpretations. Clearly communicate findings to project stakeholders and team members.
- Environmental Considerations: Be mindful of the environmental impact of field surveys and adhere to responsible practices for minimizing disturbance.
MY PROFILE
Qualifications:
- BSc Degree in Geology or equivalent.
- 0-2 years of experience in boreholes drilling for various geological survey techniques and basic understanding of the data.
- Good knowledge in Onshore and Offshore Drilling methods
- Very good in English both reading and writing.
- Proactive attitude.
- welling to work in Tabuk city and to be in site.
**Security clearance**
This role requires the successful candidate to hold a minimum of a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance.
Due to the nature of work this role will be delivering and for the protection of certain assets, the successful candidate has to be a UK national or in Mo D approved cases a Dual National from a non-ITAR country.
