Contracts Engineer (FIDIC Contracts)
Job Description: Contracts Engineer (FIDIC Contracts) Role Overview The Contracts Engineer will be responsible for providing expert contract management and administration support for FIDIC-based contracts. This role will require a deep understanding of FIDIC contract terms and conditions, as well as a strong ability to analyze and interpret contract documents. Key Responsibilities
Contract Review and Analysis:
Thoroughly review and analyze FIDIC-based contracts to identify potential risks, liabilities, and contractual obligations.
Provide expert advice on contract interpretation and application.
Contract Negotiation:
Participate in contract negotiations with clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
Advocate for the company's interests and ensure that contractual terms are favorable.
Contract Administration:
Manage the contractual relationship between the company and its counterparties.
Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions.
Monitor and track contract performance.
Dispute Resolution:
Assist in the resolution of contract disputes through negotiation, mediation, or arbitration.
Provide expert witness testimony in legal proceedings, if necessary.
Risk Management:
Identify and mitigate potential contractual risks.
Develop and implement risk management strategies.
Contractual Claims:
Prepare and submit contractual claims for variations, delays, and other losses.
Defend against claims made by counterparties.
Contractual Documentation:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date contract documentation.
Prepare and issue contract notices, directives, and instructions.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree in engineering, law, or a related field.
Minimum 15 years of experience in contract management and administration, with a focus on FIDIC contracts.
Strong understanding of FIDIC contract terms and conditions.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
Ability to analyze complex contractual issues and provide sound advice.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Proficiency in relevant software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, contract management software).
Desired Skills
Experience in the construction or engineering industry.
Knowledge of international dispute resolution procedures.
Fluency in multiple languages.
