The Opportunity:
The VAT Specialist is part of the VAT Team and gives VAT advice to several GY entities in Europe. Also, the VAT Specialist will participate in tax audits in different jurisdictions and will support the monthly/quarterly/annual VAT compliance processes for GY entities in the VAT registration countries, under the guidance of the VAT Team Lead and with the support of our external service provider. Some of the activities will include:
deliver internal VAT advice to GY group entities
SAP data extraction, review of VAT related entries posted in SAP, perform adjustments to SAP data in order to ensure correctness of VAT returns and communicate such adjustments to external provider
review of VAT related entries and provide support to our external services provider in relation to VAT data required for returns preparation
perform monthly reconciliations of VAT accounts
maintain the VAT settings in SAP, implement changes due to regulatory or business processes changes in reporting countries and keep informed on VAT updates in EU and in different jurisdictions communication with external services provider, as well as with AP, AR, Customs and Business departments
support tax inspections in various reporting countries
perform high level review of draft VAT returns provided by our external services provider and draft payment requests
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain the VAT settings in SAP, implement changes and keep informed on VAT updates in EU and in different jurisdictions
Escalate complex issues faced and track the resolution process accordingly
Support the monthly/quarterly/annual VAT compliance processes: provide the required data for the preparation of VAT returns, calculate required VAT adjustments for the preparation of the returns, support the VAT function by reviewing entries and submissions by the local finance team(s)
Perform high level review of draft VAT returns provided by our external services provider and draft payment requests
Perform account reconciliations for the accounts assigned and monthly VAT postings
To Join Our Team, You Will Need:
Education:
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Diploma holder who is currently pursuing professional qualifications
Desired: Previous VAT advice and compliance experience in a multinational company/advisory firm
Experience:
2-3 years minimum experience in Romanian VAT reporting and advice
preferred previous experience with ERP system (SAP)
Ideally experience with EU VAT
Knowledge & Skills:
Strong communication skills
Technical knowledge (local VAT, EU VAT)
Competency with computer systems: database, spreadsheet; competency in ERP system preferred
Ability to comprehend and communicate financial information to various audiences
Demonstrate high reliability and self-motivation
Drive accountability and results
Fluent in English, spoken and written
Analysis skills
Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills
