Position Overview: The Finance & Accounting Manager plays a critical role in overseeing the organization's financial health by managing accounting functions, budgeting, financial reporting, and internal controls. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of economic data and compliance with regulatory frameworks. In the context of a real estate development company, the manager also collaborates with development teams to align financial strategies with project goals and timelines. Key Responsibilities: 1. Financial Management and Reporting:
Prepare and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Manage the preparation of financial statements in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Monitor cash flow, forecast future financial positions, and optimize capital utilization.
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of management reports, including budget performance and financial projections.
2. Budgeting & Forecasting:
Develop and manage annual budgets in coordination with department heads.
Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis to senior management.
Provide financial forecasts to support decision-making for ongoing and upcoming real estate projects.
3. Internal Controls and Compliance:
Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Ensure compliance with local laws, tax regulations, and reporting requirements.
Liaise with external auditors and manage the audit process.
4. Team Leadership & Development:
Manage and mentor accounting staff, including the controller, accountants, and payroll specialists.
Monitor the performance of the finance team, providing feedback and fostering professional growth.
Collaborate with other departments to align financial operations with company objectives.
5. Real Estate Project Support:
Work with project managers to align financial plans with project development timelines and costs.
Provide insights into project feasibility through financial modeling and cash flow analysis.
Ensure accurate financial reporting of project costs and returns.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
7+ years of experience in finance or accounting, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial management principles.
Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
Experience in real estate or construction finance is a plus.
