We are looking for a 2-Stroke Field Service Engineer, Mechanical with a main responsibility in executing mechanical Field Service activities in adherence with Wärtsilä guidelines, technical instructions and site procedures, ensuring customer satisfaction and providing excellent quality of the job done.
The preferred location for this position is in Gdansk, Poland.
Your role and responsibilities
In this role, FS Engineer will have opportunity to work in international environment, travel within Europe or over the world for various service jobs for approximately 80 % of the working time (up to 200 days per year). Therefore, we are looking for candidates who are ready and willing to travel, who possess a strong Field Service mindset and are open for challenges.
Main responsibilities:
- Carrying out the mechanical jobs on board vessels working with 2-stroke engines of Wärtsilä/Sulzer/Win GD brand. Occasionally carrying out supervisory or troubleshooting activities on those 2-stroke main engines with support of Technical Service teams.
- Performing Field Service activities related to installation of Wärtsilä Service Products (modernisation, retrofit packages) elaborated for 2-stroke diesel engines in service.
- Performing mainly mechanical but also electrical and automation related works both on engines and during installations of Wärtsilä Service Products.
- Upon request performing technical assessment of the installations, carrying out pre- inspections and carrying-out final commissioning of the installed products, in accordance with Wärtsilä guidelines and technical, safety and quality procedures.
- On-site cooperation with teammates, stakeholders (yards, crews) managing service activities during work execution.
- Ensuring customer satisfaction through positive interactions with customers and efficient collaboration with different teams during service works on site.
- Interacting and communicating actively with Field Service and Technical Service back-office during work execution.
- Providing internal and external reports on work progress, updates, and daily reports for the assigned works, in accordance with Wärtsilä standards.
- Preparing final Service Work reports along with time and expense reports in accordance with Wärtsilä policy, interacting with administrative personnel on request.
- Proactively consulting, advising, and promoting available Wärtsilä solutions and products to customers.
Requirements for the position
- B. Sc. or M. Sc. in Engineering or similar relevant technical educational background.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with service works on installations of mechanical, electrical, and/or auxiliary equipment (mainly engines).
- Deep understanding of the principles of operation of 2-stroke engines.
- Good understanding of technical instructions, drawings, and schematic diagrams (e.g. pneumatic, electrical systems).
- Awareness, readiness and presenting abilities to take up mechanical and electrical troubleshooting tasks on engines, auxiliary systems, and our service products.
- Experience with reporting and ability to generate reports.
- MS Office skills, along with skills in other relevant reporting tools.
- Willingness to travel approximately 80 % of the working time.
- Fluent Polish along with strong English language skills, both written and verbal.
