Job Summary: The Motor Pool Mechanic is responsible for performing skilled mechanical repairs and maintenance on the company's fleet of vehicles and equipment. This includes routine inspections, diagnosing mechanical issues, and performing necessary repairs to ensure vehicles operate safely and efficiently. The role requires expertise in troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and knowledge of a variety of vehicle systems such as engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical components. Key Responsibilities: Vehicle Maintenance & Repairs: Perform scheduled maintenance services (oil changes, tire rotations, etc.) and repairs on various types of vehicles and equipment, including light trucks, heavy-duty trucks, and construction equipment. Diagnostic Inspections: Use diagnostic tools and equipment to assess mechanical problems, identify faulty components, and determine the most efficient repair solutions. Engine & Transmission Overhaul: Disassemble and reassemble engines and transmissions, replacing or repairing worn parts as needed. Brake & Suspension Systems: Inspect, repair, or replace brake systems, suspensions, and steering systems to ensure proper vehicle operation. Electrical & Hydraulic Systems: Diagnose and repair electrical wiring and hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting issues with lighting, wiring harnesses, starters, alternators, and hydraulic lifts. Preventive Maintenance: Develop and perform preventive maintenance programs to minimize vehicle downtime and extend the lifespan of fleet vehicles. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities, documenting parts used and time spent on each task. Parts & Inventory Management: Order parts and maintain inventory of spare parts, tools, and materials necessary for repairs. Safety Compliance: Ensure that all vehicles and equipment comply with company and legal safety standards, following all safety protocols when working on equipment. Collaboration: Work closely with the fleet manager, drivers, and other departments to ensure timely vehicle availability and resolve operational issues. Required Qualifications: 1.
