Finance Supervisor

The Finance Supervisor’s responsibility is to review and oversee the work done by the Finance Analysts and Accountants under her assigned section. S/He prepares the monthly reports required by the manager and makes initial investigation for any variances, if any.
This position will work with all levels of the organization to report, monitor and manage key financial and non-financial performance indicators.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
These tasks are subject to change depending on the nature of service of the division/department or business direction.
A. Planning and Organizing
1. Plans and organizes relevant activities and schedules to ensure efficient delivery of service in the department and ensures to meet the expectations of internal clients. Sample tasks may be, but not limited to:
  • Maintains the effective and efficient execution of his/her tasks and responsibilities by ensuring consistent compliance with existing protocols, guidelines, processes, procedures, standards, etc. of the division, department, unit, and overall of the Medical Mall.
  • Oversees day-to-day management of all tasks and activities in a timely and efficient manner;
  • Ascertains the accuracy of general entries to be posted;
  • Reviews the reasonableness of the financial statements;
  • Conducts thorough research and analysis of variances to ensure data accuracy;
  • Oversees expenditure for compliance with budgets;
  • Supervises reconciliation of accounts;
  • Supervises reconciliation of accounts;
  • Flags the departments/sections for any erroneous entries.
  • Conducts cross-functional trainings for staff.
2. May be assigned in a project that aims to improve specific areas working independently or with a cross-functional team. May be tasked to make necessary recommendations on performance of team members or cross-functional team member.
B. Analysis and Recommendations
1. Provides analyses on processes, policies and procedures based on research or gathered data. Sample task/s:
  • Analyzes causes of erroneous entries entered in the system.
  • Makes recommendation/s on improving the processes to avoid erroneous entries.
  • Develops financial modeling, financial statement analysis, decision modeling, reporting and ad-hoc analysis to support strategic initiatives;
  • Assists in the preparation of Unit’s planning/budgeting process and analysis reports;
  • Educates Unit Heads in understanding key financial concepts and good cost management practices;
  • Presents monthly high-level assessment of the financial performance for all business units.
2. Recommends changes and updates in processes, policies, procedures or standards in the department to improve quality of service. Sample tasks:
  • Gap Analysis
  • Process Review
  • Policy-Making
C. Team Development
1. Oversees the daily operations of the area/section to ensure efficient and effective management of services;
2. Supervises all unit personnel; accomplishes all human resource objectives such as, but not limited to:
  • Selecting
  • Assigning of tasks
  • Coaching
  • Counselling
  • Disciplining staff
  • Communicating job expectations
3. Planning, monitoring, appraising job contribution;
4. Guides employee actions by implementing and updating department’s policies, procedures, methods and guidelines;
5. Plans, develops, implements and facilitates the timely follow through of the technical training and professional enhancement of direct reports; ensures that they are able to gain the technical knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently perform their duties in order to gain career progression within Chong Hua Medical Mall.
D. Continuous Quality Improvement
1. Responsible for the review and streamlining of processes and policies to continuously improve the quality of service in the department.
2. Leads or directs the team or creates functional team to identify performance gaps and formulate strategic interventions to continuously improve on identified areas for improvement, when required
3. Oversees the development and placement of safety strategies and continuous quality improvement of service initiatives in the department.
E. Professional Development
1. Actively involves oneself in the planning and execution of his/her professional development in collaboration with the immediate superior; monitors progress and completion of trainings required to establish his/her career or set for the next likely role.

F. Others
1. Performs other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned or requested by immediate superior or management from time to time.
2. Mentors and/or trains the junior members of the unit to ensure proper cascading and/or learning of technical know-how and soft skills that contribute to the achievement of the unit’s objectives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred.
  • At least three (3) years of relevant work experience and leadership role
  • Strong analytical skills and sound understanding of accounting principles;
  • Good working experience with Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel (pivot tables and advanced formulas);
  • Experience creating financial models, including use of database manipulation (e.g. ERP, Excel, etc.);
  • Healthcare industry experience is a plus.
  • Strong presence with the ability to interact with senior leadership;
  • Demonstrated understanding of basic corporate office software, including Microsoft Office 365 applications.
  • Good communication skills. Proficiency in the Visayan dialect and/or Tagalog is required; ability to communicate well in English is an advantage.
