The Supervisor / Kaimahi is a member of a multi-disciplinary team who are responsible for the development and implementation of the therapeutic treatment programme.
Tai Aroha is an intensive specialist residential rehabilitation treatment programme targeting high risk community-based offenders (residents), who have multiple treatment needs related to violence. The overall objectives of the programme are to reduce participants' risk of serious reoffending and increase their capacity to live socially responsible and fulfilling lifestyles.
The programme aims to provide a culturally responsive rehabilitation experience in particular for Māori participants by respecting and incorporating Tikanga Māori and kaupapa Māori concepts within and alongside Western based rehabilitation practices.
The purpose of the role is to support residents within the residential setting and during external activities.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
Strong problem-solving, team-building and influencing skills are essential, as is the ability to model pro-social behaviour and to represent the therapeutic community in a positive manner.
Being part of Ara Poutama Aotearoa is about being part of a team, working together to ensure that offenders are kept secure and treated fairly and consistently.
A full driver's licence is essential, with the ability to drive an automatic and manual vehicle.
Salar range for this position is $64,138 - 71,444

- Ability to operate effectively in a Māori cultural setting and display core skills
- Knowledge of Te Reo Māori, Powhiri/ Whakatau processes in a Marae setting
- Communicate and build rapport with the tane in our care
- Remain calm and measured in pressure situations
- Take an objective, non-judgemental approach to the tane in our care, demonstrating a degree of empathy in upholding rules and regulations
