About the Role

We are looking for a Steel Fabricator to join the Mc Connell Dowell family to work within our Mechanical Division in Auckland.

The Steel Fabricator will be based at the Auckland workshop and site work in the Auckland area as required with our operations, reporting to Mechanical Manager, you will:

• Perform fitting, welding and other fabrication duties as directed.
• Ensure safe work conditions are maintained at all times.
• Maintain and check all mechanical gear on site at the start of each shift.
• Ensure critical items of plant and equipment are 100% available when required.
• Assist production crew if and when needed.
• Ensure the efficient and effective operation of the welding equipment on site.
• Ensure that welding activities are performed to a high standard.

What you'll need

• Trades qualification relevant to welding and plant and equipment maintenance.
• Fabricator with experience in structural plate work and pipework
• Five years' experience relevant to the designated project and having previously held a Mechanical Fitter/Welder position.
• Sound working knowledge of HS&E requirements and implementing of same.
• Motivated to meet targets and schedules.
• Strong and clear verbal communication skills.
