Napier City Council is currently seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Sportsground Team Members for the upcoming sports season. If you are passionate about sports and enjoy working outdoors, this is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the maintenance and preparation of our sports surfaces in the Napier City Council area.
As a Sportsground Team Member, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our sportsgrounds are in optimal condition for various activities and events. As well as being actively involved in the preparation of sports turf surfaces to national standards, you will also carry out day to day maintenance of sportsgrounds to ensure they remain well presented at all times. You'll work closely with a dynamic team to prepare, maintain, and enhance the grounds at our outdoor sports facilities, contributing to a positive experience for athletes and sports enthusiasts.
This seasonal position will require your commitment from October through to March, aligning with the peak sports season. With two positions to fill, you will be based at either Mc Lean Park & Nelson Park working within the Eastern sports fields team, or at Park Island within the Western sports fields team, whilst working across all sportsgrounds within the Napier city area as directed.
Working hours will be 42.5 hours per week, generally between the hours of 7am-4pm Monday - Friday, with the flexibility to work weekends as required for events. You will need:
Current unrestricted drivers licence
Knowledge and willingness of sports through experience of cricket,
rugby and football
Able to work under pressure in high profile public situations and
maintain positive public relations
Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to work well as part of a team
