Senior Policy Analyst - Employment Policy team

A 6-month fixed term and 1 permanent Senior Policy Analyst opportunity for experienced candidates with regulatory and strategic policy expertise wanting to work in one of Aotearoa New Zealand's largest government organisations!

Te āhuatunga a te tūranga / About the role
The opportunity sits within the Employment Policy team that focus on supporting people getting into and staying in work within Aotearoa New Zealand. The Employment Policy team develop advice to support wider labour market outcomes and play a critical role developing advice to support implementation and design of employment programmes for anyone disadvantaged in the labour market and overcoming any barriers to securing employment.
The Employment team works closely with other teams within the organisation as well as partnering with other government agencies and key external stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be part of a wider supportive policy branch where collegiality and delivery of high quality policy advice lead to better outcomes for Aotearoa New Zealanders.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako / Skills and experience Ideal candidate:
We would love to hear from motivated senior analysts with a track record in leading policy projects and landing policy advice.

  • You'll need strong analytical and critical thinking ability and excellent judgement.
  • Leadership ability and experience in providing advice on complex issues along with the skills and an interest in coaching and developing others.
  • Skills in building relationships and leading engagement with stakeholders, both internally and externally to the Ministry.
  • Experience in enhancing the team's capability, including supporting junior staff with their projects.
  • We're keen on people who will fit our collegial, supportive culture, and have the action orientation to shape, lead and contribute to policy work that is a priority for Ministers and our Chief Executive.

Salary range: $112,372.00 - $136,429.00
