Senior People Advisor

Job Title: Senior People Adviser
Role type: 12-month fixed term – parental leave cover
Location: Auckland - Māngere office
Salary band : General Salary Range D, $98,955 to $132,427 per annum depending on skills and experience.

Kōrero mō te Tūranga - About the Role
Working from the operational heart of MPI in our Māngere, Auckland office, this position offers a great opportunity to delve into a forward-thinking environment and work proactively alongside managers and the Northern Border Senior Leadership Team, across all people functions. You will work closely with our border managers and staff at the Auckland International Airport where the managers that you work with, will truly value your advice and support.
This is a busy generalist role which requires a strong, people-focused lens, providing support and advice on all People related services, including the implementation of MPI People and Capability systems and processes.
Working alongside a Senior Adviser in the team, you will cover each other and work collaboratively to deliver to the business needs, including attending weekly hui's on topics such as:

  • Workforce planning and talent mapping
  • Remuneration and culture development
  • Employment agreements, legislation & employment relations
  • Change processes
  • Performance management
  • Leadership development and more
The overall goal of People and Capability is:
  • Develop people capability for a diverse organisation
  • Growing connections within the wider People and Capability Directorate and across MPI
  • Provide customer-centric products and services as an agile and trusted adviser.
Mōu - About You
We're looking for someone who can turn their hand to anything and is used to juggling various work priorities at one time. You may, or may not, have experience leading a team, but importantly, you will be able to work autonomously and show resilience, agility, and a strong customer focus to deliver a proactive, valued approach as a trusted adviser.

You will need to demonstrate experience in the following:
  • An ability to think on your feet and effective at building trusted relationships
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) are essential
  • The ability to persuade and influence at all levels up to senior level to obtain optimal outcomes
  • Experience in implementing and embedding organisational change to help achieve objectives, along with knowledge of relevant and current employment legislation is critical
  • Confident at presenting and delivering workshop style training
  • Understanding of te ao Māori and te Tiriti o Waitangi, or a willingness and commitment to learn
  • A relevant tertiary qualification and extensive relevant experience
Desired:
  • Previous experience working with and navigating collective employment agreements in an operational environment will be an advantage
