The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.
We have an opportunity available to join our team as a Senior Medical Officer/Medical Officer. This is a permanent, part-time (0.7FTE) role based in Greenlane Clinical Centre, Auckland, Northern Region, NPHS.
In this role, you will support in the provision of operational public health services in assigned areas to support the Northern Region's activities in the areas of notifiable disease management (including tuberculosis), outbreaks and environmental health working with Medical Officers of Health. You will also provide and support a public health response to disease notifications and outbreak response, providing clinical advice and leadership within the Medical, Nursing and Health Protection Officers teams.
This role is for up to 0.7 FTE (28 hours per week).

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience
  • General registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
  • Current annual practicing certificate
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Desired skills and experience:
    • A relevant graduate and post-graduate qualification
    • Vocational registration in a related specialty area of health
    • Experience in a multidisciplinary, multicultural environment within the New Zealand health sector
    • Previous experience working in Public Health, Community or Primary Care Health related discipline
    • Computer skills (including Microsoft Word, Outlook, MS Teams and Excel programmes).
