Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor in Software Engineering
About the role - Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga
This is an exciting opportunity for a mid-career Software Engineer, with at least 10 years experience, to show strong leadership and progress your research goals. As Programme Lead for Software Engineering, this full-time role is expected to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, as well as the supervision of honours, graduate and postgraduate students. You will be expected to maintain professional associations, establish, and promote collaborations with the industry, and contribute to outreach events.
Salary will be in the range of $107,177 to $140,599 per year for a Senior Lecturer or for an Associate Professor the salary will be in the range of $142,358 to $157,018 per year based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours a week), based at our Hillcrest Campus.

We are seeking to grow our Software Engineering department with the addition of a Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor who enhances our research strengths, creates engaging teaching experiences, and contributes to our outreach programmes. The successful candidate will hold a relevant Ph D in Software Engineering and have demonstrated teaching and research experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, including successful supervision of Masters and Doctoral students. Additionally, experience of leading a team of academic colleagues is strongly preferred as well as a willingness to contribute to both our Hamilton and Tauranga programmes.

Au Reikura – The School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Waikato comprises five discipline groups. The Software Engineering group has research strengths in areas such as human-centred computing, internet of things, and software correctness. Software Engineering is closely aligned with the Computer Science programme where we have a strong presence in Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security. We offer a range of Software Engineering programmes, from the fully accredited Bachelor of Engineering to Ph D level.
