About our team - Mō te tīma
The Ministry of Youth Development (MYD) – Te Manatū Whakahiato Taiohi, responsible to the Minister for Youth, is a stand-alone Ministry within the Ministry of Social Development. MYD works with and for all young people in Aotearoa New Zealand aged between 12 and 24 years old. We partner with others to enable, fund and promote youth development opportunities.
MYD is a small organisation that works with and through others to achieve results. We work collaboratively with young people, other funders (including iwi, business and philanthropic organisations), providers, local government, and other government agencies.
MYD is a Ministry within the Ministry of Social Development (MSD), and sits within the Māori, Communities and Partnerships group.
About the role - Te āhuatunga a te tūranga
We have an exciting career opportunity for a Senior Advisor, to join our team.
You will take a lead role in our Ākonga Youth Development Community Fund workstream and bring relevant skills and expertise to implementation the next phase of the work programme. You will also contribute to MYD's wider work including implementation of the FTE Youth Worker Pilot. You will provide high quality advice to the General Manager, Director, and Programme Manager to promote and encourage youth development and partnership opportunities.

About you
We are looking for an articulate and innovative Senior Advisor who has:
Proven ability to provide high quality, balanced analysis and advice both at strategic and implementation levels
Proven ability to develop innovative solutions
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including analytical writing skills
Five years' experience in an advisor or similar role (desirable)
A strong understanding of, or experience in, the youth development sector
A good understanding of, and experience in, the machinery of government
Great ability to build and maintain relationships.
