Psychologist - Central North

The details: Permanent - Full time - 40 hours per week

Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
We are seeking a clinical psychologist to work within one of our two well-established MDTs servicing the Hamilton urban area and surrounds. We are open to receiving applications from applicants with a range of clinical experience, including clinical psychology interns approaching first registration.

You would be working with clients presenting with a wide range of serious mental health conditions, often with a history of trauma. You would be capable of working in a formulation-based way with complexity and co-morbidity, applying evidence-based approaches. Depending upon level of experience, there are opportunities to provide supervision, teaching and consultation. There is a supportive community of psychologists working across a variety of services, all located in the one building. There is supportive clinical leadership in place and your professional development will be actively resourced and encouraged.

Key responsibilities of the role:
  • Provide high quality psychological assessment and interventions to tangata whaiora referred for psychological treatment.
  • Practice effectively with autonomy as well as being an integral part of a multidisciplinary health care team.
  • Utilise technology for communication and documenting clinical information inclusive of a range of assessments.
  • Effectively and efficiently manage an individual caseload.

Mōu | About you
Skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for the role:
  • Have NZ registration under the Clinical Scope, or will be eligible for this.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Proven experience and clinical skills in working with individuals who experience serious mental health issues.
  • The ability to provide individualised client therapy.
  • The ability to work and communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team and the ability to work autonomously.
  • A strong recovery focus and trauma informed care approach.
  • Well-developed time management skills with the ability to co-ordinate personal and team tasks in an efficient and organised manner.
  • Computer literacy and the ability to complete documentation on time and to a high standard.
  • A current full drivers licence.
