Mō te tūnga | About the role
We currently have vacancies for applicants with strong administrative abilities to work as Property Officers, joining the busy team that manages the personal property of the people we manage, as they arrive into and depart from our site. This is a full time, permanent role based at Manawatu Prison.
Property Officers are based at both our Front Reception desk and in the Receiving Office within the Facility. They are primarily responsible for overseeing the accurate collation, collection and recording of all property received or sent out.

Success as a Property Officer will be dependent upon your;
Excellent work ethic including strong time management and organisational skills
Ability to work well within a team environment.
Sound working knowledge of MS Word/Excel and Outlook, with excellent written and verbal language skills
Good physical health as heavy lifting is required
Great face-to-face people skills i.e. your ability to interact confidently and professionally with people from a diverse range of cultures is essential
Understanding of our work environment and the safety protocols required
Ability to learn new skills quickly, follow instructions and having the courage to ask relevant question
Strong attention to detail i.e. being team, solution and compliance focused
Property Officers at Manawatu Prison work 40 hours per week across rotating 8-hour rostered shifts, Mondays to Sundays. Shift hours are 8am-5pm. We have free car-parking on-site. An initial uniform allowance is supplied that will enable you to order Corrections clothing suitable for this role.
The starting salary is from $62,217 to $65,934 per annum. The salary will be determined subject to the transferrable skillsets and experience you bring.
