This is an exciting opportunity to join a team building the people and technology capabilities to operate a best practice safety camera system across our roading network. Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
The PMO Advisor is a key member of the Programme Management Office (PMO) specialist team who provision programme and project management advice and services such as resource, risk and issue, assurance and financial management reporting. This role will support and work closely with the PMO Lead, Programme Manager and /or Programme Director, in driving and implementing PMO-centric approaches and support to enable NZTA to successfully deliver transformative programmes of work using established good-practice standards and frameworks. Key deliverables for this role include:

  • Providing technical and tactical programme-centric advice to delivery teams utilising embedded frameworks, tools and templates.
  • Oversight and maintenance key Programme controls ensuring agreed standards and hygiene are adhered working with Programme teams to lift overall maturity in this discipline.
  • Delivering targeted programme reporting and analysis, and apply a critical eye across key programme and governance-related documents.
  • Contributing to the uplift and continual improvement of programme-centric frameworks, artefacts and templates.
  • Identifying Programme risks and escalate accordingly.
  • Developing and facilitate Programme training, workshops and meetings, e.g. lessons learned, as required.
  • Taking the lead in various Programme closure activities as identified.
Ko koe tēnei | About you We are looking for someone who has PMO experience and enjoys working in a fast paced environment, stays calm under pressure and can adapt quickly to new and unexpected challenges, and can bring:

  • Large scale programme experience working in a hybrid Agile delivery environment.
  • Experience in providing practical programme management advice and guidance on large programmes or projects.
  • Planning tools experience including; Jira, Planview and Microsoft Project.
  • Experience ensuring consistent, predictable delivery by maintaining programme controls and hygiene.
  • Reporting and documentation experience, with a critical eye for detail, including drafting and reviewing reports and relevant project documentation, ensuring quality of narrative and messaging is accurate and current.
  • Ability to contribute to the continual improvement and documentation of project management frameworks, templates, processes, and standards.
  • Ability to assimilate information from various sources and translate into a meaningful story.
  • Experience in ensuring that programme artefacts are of a high quality, clear, succinct, and meaningful to a programme and business audience.
You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector. The team will directly lead the programme and project delivery teams and be responsible for their overall delivery.
