Mental Health and Wellbeing Support Work

About The Role

Te Whānau o Waipareira is on the lookout for skilled kaimahi to strengthen our integrated services for whānau and deliver wrap-around support in the mental health and wellbeing space. This is a fixed-term fulltime opportunity with a start date in January 2025, and an end date of June 2025. As a Mental Health & Wellbeing Support Worker, you will connect with whānau to identify their unique wellbeing needs and craft customized recovery plans from a strengths-based, kaupapa Māori perspective. You will operate as a mobile clinician, working across a variety of key programmes throughout the community. Your mahi will support the hopes and dreams of the whānau, constructing a comprehensive network of care that covers all angles.
If you hold a Level 4 Mental Health & Wellbeing certificate or a similar qualification, let's have a korero! Even if your experience doesn't perfectly align with the listed job requirements, you might be the candidate we've been searching for...

Skills & Experience

  • A commitment to Te Reo me ngā Tikanga Māori.
  • Ability to speak Te Reo Māori fluently is preferred.
  • Preferred Level 4 Mental Health & Wellbeing Certificate or Tertiary qualification in a relevant health discipline.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated facilitation, planning and coordination experience.
Mana Motuhake (Our Goal)

Te Whānau o Waipareira is a non-government organisation, operating locally in the heart of West Auckland. We are dedicated to creating generational change for urban Māori, delivering a broad spectrum of services in education, health, and social care.

Waipareiratanga (The Waipareira Way)

Here at the Whānau House, we do our mahi differently. As a new kaimahi, you will be warmly welcomed into a close-knit whānau, with networks spanning across the West Auckland region and beyond. We walk side-by-side with the Māori community, woven into a cross-generational story far bigger than oneself. As kaimahi, we take care of your wellbeing and provide a number of benefits:

  • Fun, supportive, and flexible teamworking environment.
  • Various professional and career development opportunities.
  • Locally based offices, near to public transport and shops.
A Waipareira career is YOUR opportunity to create a difference for whānau Māori!
