Are you interested in a career in Maternity?
We are delighted to announce a new role in Maternity for people interested in Midwifery. The successful candidate will work with clinicians at the hospital supporting the teams in the work they do with family/whanāu. Earn while you learn and work towards your passion for a career in midwifery.
Who is an appropriate applicant?/Ko wai he kaitono tōtika?
This role would suit an experienced Healthcare Assistant who would like to work towards a midwifery qualification OR someone who has no experience, but a strong desire to enter the maternity profession. You need to be passionate about babies/pepe and children/tamariki and supporting women/wahine through this major life change. You also need to be highly motivated to start on your midwifery career. This will require staying power and a determination to succeed. The ability to work with a diverse range of people, excellent communication, a sense of humour and being a good team player are essential qualities.
Hours will be a minimum of 20 hours per week in the hospital and may be any day of the week on a rotating roster basis. You will be able to do shifts on the AM, PM or night shifts to work around your studies (Shifts AM: 7-3.30/PM: 3-11.30/Night: 11-7.30.) You will be expected to start on your entry to midwifery (Level 4 Career Preparation ARA on-line course). I Please note that if you have University Entrance, you may be able to enrol directly onto the ARA distance learning degree.
