Kōrero mō te Tūranga - About the Role
The Manager Inventory and Benchmarking will lead a team of experienced analysts with deep sector and data knowledge to ensure our farmers, growers, and regulators can make informed decisions as we transition to a more productive, sustainable, and inclusive future. You'll have the opportunity to shape analysis that informs farmers and farmer-facing staff while also influencing policy direction with data and evidence. You'll forge relationships across sector and government and be an advocate for the importance of high-quality farm level data in shaping the future of our primary sectors.
This is a high-profile role, with meaningful impact, the manager will also have the opportunity to shape the work programme for the team.
Mōu - About You
You'll have a passion for the primary sector, as well as the people and stakeholders that deliver change on the ground. You will have proven experience managing and leading a team, ideally you will have overseen databases to create insights.
You'll be comfortable leading people, with a track-record of building high performing teams and a focus on the wellbeing of your team and developing capability among your staff. You'll be experienced in analysing complex technical issues, making decisions with financial impact and in developing and implementing government policy. In addition, you will be confident in building relationships and negotiating across a broad range of stakeholders to drive action, while holding a clear vision for current and future priorities.

Our Inventory and Benchmarking team's vision is to be the Government's experts on farm performance. The team's key focus areas are:
- Building enduring relationships with our sectors
- Give effect to the Crown's Treaty obligations and engage appropriately with Māori
- Communicating results and analysis of the first stage of environmental, physical, and financial data collected from farms to date
- Expanding farm-level analysis into new or emerging sectors to better understand how they operate
- Using data to influence and inform policy-making decisions by allowing farm-level impact analysis that increases government understanding of our sectors
- Climate change inventory work

- most preferably a New Zealand citizen, who has resided continuously in New Zealand for at least the last five (5) years, OR
- is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five (5) years: either Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.
