An opportunity for a highly motivated and passionate kaimanaaki has become available in the Te Kaahui Ora, Maaori Health service. We are a team of experienced nurses, social workers, and kaimanaaki who are dedicated to improving health outcomes for Maaori.
The kaimanaaki is primarily responsible for supporting Maaori through their healthcare journey ensuring the provision of manaakitanga, kotahitanga, whanaungatanga, and rangatiratanga, and ensuring service delivery is responsive to the needs of whānau. You will ensure effective whaanau engagement and participation in the planning, implementation, delivery and evaluation of services. The position will work closely with Clinical Nurse Specialist – Maaori, however will function as part of the wider Maaori Health. They will competently navigate both te ao Maaori and te ao Pakeehaa and be able to effectively develop and manage relationships to get the best outcomes for the individual and their whaanau.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate excellent relational skills, the ability to work as a team member, is adaptable and flexible to change, loves a challenge, and has some experience in health (although not essential). The ideal candidate will have:
A good understanding of Maaori health paradigms
An understanding of the health system and some of the challenges for Maaori
Fluent in Te Reo me ona Tikanga
Full NZ driver's licence (preferred)
