Te Puni Kōkiri is the government's principal policy advisor on Māori wellbeing and development. We achieve strategic influence with a focus on providing high quality policy advice and holding other agencies to account for delivering public services to, for and with Māori. This includes our mandate to promote Māori achievement in education, training, health and economic resource development along with performing our monitoring and mentoring roles. We have several key leadership opportunities available in our Data, Insights and Monitoring directorate.
Te Whiwhinga Mahi | The Opportunity
Reporting to the General Manager, Data, Insights and Monitoring, the Manager, System Performance Monitoring leads and coordinates efforts across the enterprise in fulfilment of our role as system monitors.
The Manager, System Performance Monitoring will use their expertise to:
  • Enhance the reputation of Te Puni Kōkiri as system monitors who can be effective at holding the system to account adequate delivery of services to Māori.
  • Build and maintain strong external relationships with state sector agencies, in particular central agencies and other influencers in the Public Service and wider community.
  • Lead the development and monitoring of system indicators for how well public services perform for Māori, finding ways to transparently share this externally, primarily key agencies and iwi, hapu and whanau.
  • Provide leadership and strategic advice to direct and deliver to the monitoring responsibilities of Te Puni Kōkiri
  • Be a trusted advisor to a wide range of stakeholders who can support the development of solutions that work well for Māori
  • Lead a team of highly skilled kaimahi and support them on best practice, implementation and opportunities as they present themselves.
  • Lead and model a strong collaborative work approach and culture.
The appointment range for the Manager role is between $153,574 and $191,967 per annum and the salary will be determined based on the successful candidate's skills and experience.

To be successful in this role, you will have experience working in system performance monitoring environments. You will have experience leading and mentoring teams. You are motivated to help others succeed and are committed to creating open, collaborative environments where all kaimahi can share knowledge and contribute. You're a people person who can easily translate complex ideas into workable delivery programmes. Experience working in hybrid agile environments is a plus. This is also a unique opportunity to work with Māori data including appropriate methodology in system monitoring context.
