Mō tēnei mahi (About this job)
We are looking for a Kaiako with expert knowledge in Te Reo and Mātauranga Māori who is eager to share their expertise with tauira ready to advance their reo Māori journey. This is a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) role that starts in January 2025.
As part of our team, you will attend kura reo and be looked up to by other Kaiako in this whare.
Te Pīnakitanga ki te reo Kairangi takes learning te reo Māori to an advanced level through total immersion delivery. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge in ngā āhuatanga o te reo—grammatical structures within te reo Māori, whakamāori/whakapākehā (accurate translation), pūrākau/pakiwaitara (using stories and legends as knowledge frameworks), ōpaki/ōkawa (formal and informal language), waiata and haka (specialized knowledge of traditional waiata and haka), karanga, and whaikōrero.

Mōu (About you)
To be successful in this role, you will bring the following:
- A Masters in Te Reo Māori / Mātauranga Māori or similar, or currently be working towards completing your Masters.
- Previous teaching experience, preferably teaching Total Immersion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
- Tech-savvy with experience in tauira learning systems (e.g., Moodle).
