Mō tēnei mahi | About this job

We are seeking a social work practice experienced Kaiako to deliver the Ngā Poutoko Whakarara Oranga - Bachelor of Bicultural Social Work Level 7 programme. This is a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) role that starts in January 2025.
As Kaiako, you will plan, prepare, deliver, and motivate tauira learning. An essential part of this role involves undertaking rangahau (research) activities that inform teaching practice and maintain a high-quality programme.
Mōu (About you)
The ideal Kaiako will be someone who has a passion for tauira success through education.
The Kaiako must be able to understand Social Work from a Māori and non-Māori perspective. You will need to have the ability to develop and dispense Māori bodies of knowledge contextualized to social work practice, knowledge of bicultural frameworks, and the ability to plan and deliver them.
You will bring with you:
  • AMaster’s degree (L9) in social work/related subject or be enrolled and part way through completing
  • New Zealand Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching Level 5 (NZCATT L5) or equivalent, or be willing to complete during the first year of employment
  • Have a Full and current NZ Driver Licence
  • Have a Clean Police Record
  • Have Full and current registration with the NZ Social Work Registration Board prior to employment
  • Be able to demonstrate knowledge and appreciation of te reo and tikanga Māori within a bicultural framework
  • Proven adult teaching experience
Please note that this position is classed as a Core Worker under the Vulnerable Children’s Act and will need to pass a safety check, inclusive of Police Vetting, under the Vulnerable Children’s Act 2014
As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) will be key.
