Investigator

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity In this role you will have the opportunity to really make a difference and help keep people safe on our roads, working within our Safer Commercial Transport Team. You will be responsible for ensuring that we operate and apply a safe system approach to road safety.On a daily basis, you will use a range of tools to ensure that transport service licence holders are operating safely, and we hold people and organizations to account where they are not doing so. You will exercise statutory interventions and other regulatory activities as necessary. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team that are responsible for conducting investigations into non-compliance within the commercial transport sector. You will work alongside peers, management and external stakeholders to ensure that risks are identified and dealt with to achieve optimum results. You will lead moderate to complex investigations into areas where non-compliance and safety issues may be occurring. This role will involve some travel across the Central North Island.Ko koe tēnei | About you To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Experience in modern investigative techniques, interviewing, auditing including the use of multiple IT systems
  • Experience in supporting your team through the investigation process
  • Proven analytical skills and experience working with ambiguous information
  • Experience managing risk, sensitive issues, and confidentiality in a regulatory enforcement environment would be ideal
  • Ability to analyze data to identify areas of likely non-compliance
  • Experience in writing well-reasoned, articulate reports that reach an objective conclusion
  • Proven success in the building and maintaining effective relationships
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to understand and apply legislation, policy and other technical information and apply it in an operational context
  • Resilience
  • Clean Full Class 1 Drivers licence
  • Transport sector experience would be advantageous, but is not essential
