Mō te tūnga | About the role Ward GG - The Surgical Orthopaedic Unit (SOU) cares for patients undergoing arranged elective orthopaedic and plastic surgery. Preferably you will have surgical or orthopaedic experience, or a passion for orthopaedics, plastics and rehabilitation. In return SOU will offer you the opportunity to expand your skills and knowledge with interesting and challenging cases in a supportive team and an excellent work environment Your ability to work well under pressure within a multidisciplinary team alongside your excellent communication skills and flexibility to work rotating, rostered shifts is imperative to your success in this role. Professional development is supported, and you will have opportunities to attend training. You’ll have a strong rehabilitation focus, a desire to learn and an understanding of the social needs and backgrounds of patients and their families/Whanau. The units offer social rostering, however, flexibility is still required as you will be expected to be available for all shifts. Professional development is encouraged on the unit and supported by our RN's and Charge Nurse Managers. A good sense of humour, the ability to develop rapport with patients and colleagues, and exceptional team work will go a long way in this environment and ensure you assist patients overcome multi-faceted challenges.
