We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Dental Assistant based in Whangarei and surrounding areas to support our Oral Health Service. Training and ongoing support will be provided as well as professional development opportunities to help you succeed in your career.

This position is permanent full time working 40 hours per week between Monday – Friday.

About the role:

Dental Assistants provide support to the oral health / dental therapist, dentists and dental specialists in the efficient and effective day to day management of the clinic and patient group.

You will gain valuable experience and opportunities to make a difference in a rural setting.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

• Providing chairside assistance before, during and after dental operating procedures
• Assisting with administrative and receptionist services.
• Assisting with filing, record systems and the recording of data for statistical returns, manually and electronically as required.
• Being involved where appropriate in oral health prevention programmes.

About you:

• You will need to have a full NZ Driver's Licence as there will be some travel around the region required.
• Previous dental or health sector or administration experience is desirable but not essential to apply
• Demonstrated organisational and interpersonal skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with people of varying cultural backgrounds in a sensitive manner.
• Self-motivated with ability to show initiative.
