Auckland Council’s Group Treasury department has an amazing opportunity to join the Credit Control team on a permanent basis.
This role is in a great city location, based in the central city with a café onsite, and a great team to work with! The Credit Control team manage Council’s debt by reducing liabilities and working on debt collection processes.
As a Credit Control team member, you will work in this space to deliver excellent customer service and escalation resolution. You’ll ensure all transactional queries are resolved in an efficient and professional manner. You may also be required to look after debt in other portfolios as a learning development opportunity.

Day-to-day you could expect to work on:
Inbound and Outbound calls
Prompt customer account management, including monitoring and customer follow ups
Potentially preparing cases for legal action
He kōrero mōu: About you
This role requires 3-5 years’ experience from similar credit control or debt collection roles. With this proven experience in debt management, you understand the complexities associated and the importance of providing outstanding customer service when liaising with others.
We will be looking for specific experience with:
Working in a large debt collection environment, high volume and high value
ERP systems
Strong telephone skills with high call volumes
Influencing stakeholders and taking charge of conversations
Dealing with escalations in a polite and calm manner
Familiarity with the following will be highly advantageous:
New Zealand legislation
Statutory environment
Local Government
Banking and mortgage process
